TRAINING
Kassiyet Arts currently offers Bharatanatyam training for adults ages 18 and above, from complete beginners to advanced and professional dancers.
Students are placed according to their previous training, technical development, repertoire experience and individual assessment rather than age alone.
Yes. The Foundation pathway is designed for students beginning Bharatanatyam as well as dancers who wish to rebuild their fundamental technique.
No previous Bharatanatyam or dance experience is required.
Yes. Kassiyet Arts welcomes dancers with previous Bharatanatyam training.
Your previous experience, technique, repertoire and current stage of practice will be considered during placement. Depending on your background, you may be placed in Development, Advanced Study or Professional Development.
The Academy currently offers four training pathways:
Foundation — for beginning students or dancers rebuilding fundamental technique.
Development — for dancers with an established Bharatanatyam foundation.
Advanced Study — for experienced dancers with substantial technical and repertoire training.
Professional Development — for advanced and professional dancers seeking continued mentorship, repertoire coaching and artistic development.
Final placement is determined through the enrollment and assessment process.
Training at Kassiyet Arts is designed around sustained artistic development rather than the accumulation of choreography alone.
Technique forms the foundation, while rhythm, musicality, repertoire, abhinaya, theory, performance practice and artistic understanding are developed alongside it.
As dancers progress, increasing emphasis is placed on interpretation, independence and the ability to make informed artistic choices within the form.
Academy training is led by Kassiyet Arts faculty under the artistic direction and training philosophy of Founder and Artistic Director Kassiyet.
Professional Development and individual training with Kassiyet are offered separately.
Regular Academy training is currently conducted online.
Focused in-person training is offered in New York City approximately once every five months, bringing Academy dancers together for detailed physical correction, intensive practice, repertoire development and artistic exchange.
Yes. Because regular Academy training is conducted online, students may participate from different cities and countries.
Class schedules are listed in Eastern Time, and students should ensure that their assigned training schedule is workable from their location.
Participation in New York training is strongly encouraged because in-person work allows for a level of physical correction, detailed practice and artistic exchange that complements regular online training.
Participation requirements may vary depending on the intensive, training level or specific performance opportunity and will be communicated in advance.
Yes. Individual training with Kassiyet is available for dancers seeking focused one-to-one study, including technique refinement, repertoire coaching, performance preparation and individual artistic development.
Availability is limited and scheduling is arranged individually.
PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Students should wear a cotton salwar kameez with a cotton dupatta. Advanced and professional dancers are required to wear a cotton practice saree.
Hair must be neatly secured in a bun or ponytail, with no loose hair falling over the face.
Performance opportunities may arise through Kassiyet Arts annual programs, presentations and artistic projects.
Participation is based on the requirements of each project and may consider training level, attendance, preparation, repertoire readiness and artistic suitability.
Enrollment in the Academy does not automatically guarantee participation in performances.
Kassiyet Arts approaches advanced milestones individually rather than according to a fixed timeline.
An Arangetram is considered only when a dancer has developed the necessary technical foundation, repertoire, stamina, musical understanding and artistic maturity. Readiness is determined through sustained training and individual assessment.
Yes. Kassiyet Arts periodically presents intensives, workshops, masterclasses, residencies and other focused artistic programs.
